The American Cancer Society recommends no more than two drinks per day for men and one for women.
  • Have regular checkups with both your dentist and doctor. If you believe you are at risk for gum cancer be sure to let your dentist and doctor know and have him or her check your gums for any abnormalities or possible signs of gum cancer. Not only are regular checkups good for catching gum cancer early, they are good for finding all sorts of medical issues in their early stages and keeping you in optimal health.
  • Have any dental problems corrected as soon as possible. This prevents them from getting any worse, possibly leading to development of cancer.
  • Practice good oral hygiene. Brush, floss and visit the dentist regularly. Do all that your dentist recommends.
  • Perform self-examinations on your mouth. Regularly check your gums for any abnormalities or strange changes. Monitor any sores, lesions or irregular spots that develop and have them checked by a dentist if they do not go away in two weeks.
